Hello everyone....
This is one of the first articles I wrote about my obsession with Japan and stuff related to it.
In case you´re interested, enjoy!
^_^

I knew that it wouldn´t be any problem for me to make the "Top 10" list, because I do like many things from Japan, but to put them into some order? Well, that was a different story... So, do not take this list like that the first place thing is the best and the 10th "the worst". I myself don´t even know, in what order this should be...

And one more thing... Please, don´t judge my opinions; I can see Japan and all related stuff only from outside point of view... – Oh, yes, I wrote this even before my vacation in Japan! The time is running so fast, really... XD

1.    Anime – Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Anime was the first word, which came to my mind. If I remember correctly, it is the very first thing that was connected to Japan, which I got really interested about. Many years ago (at least is seems to me like this) Pokémon was running on one of our TV stations. This series was crazy and kinda stupid, when I look back at it now, but I was just a kid then, you know. :D There are tons of other anime stuff, which I would like to mention here (as that awesome example above), but I don´t wanna spend whole day just with the first point.

2.    Manga - Naruto

According to my opinion, manga is better than anime in some ways, but the same applies for anime-better-than-manga. I started with watching anime, then I liked reading manga more, and after that returned back to anime (I think, you can guess why - time saving). These days I mostly watch anime. I was trying hard to keep myself on manga, too, demo… There are too many other things I have to or I want to do. :/ But every single week I look forward to new Naruto chapter (by Kishimoto Masashi) and I also watch closely updating of Vampire Knight (by Hino Matsuri - which is already finished by now).

3.    Music – KAT-TUN

Well, this is really important point in my list. I like music in general. There are so many singers and bands all around the world. So many, but only small percentage of them can REALLY SING well. When I was around twenty years old, I got so annoyed by the never-ending row of male or female „famous“ singers from USA (together with those annoying „Talent contest shows“), that I almost didn´t notice, there are also other countries and singers of other nationalities. I like some bands from Germany for example, but Japanese music is somehow different. At least it has much greater impact on me. Eh, actually, I haven´t came across anyone from Japan, who was doing music and couldn´t sing well. Japanese produce music, which makes me so happy or sad, that I couldn´t believe it from the start… I´m sure I will write a lot about this heartbreaking and also joyful stuff in future.

4.    Movies – Crows Zero

Japanese can make really good movies, too. I doubt there´s anything they cannot accomplish, anyway. :D Historical, fantasy, horror, mystery, etc. I love watching them. Even though I am far more fancy about the following point...

5.    Doramas - Rookies

Or J-dramas, if you like this word more. Sometimes I almost regret that I have ever started to watch them. ALMOST. There are so many which I´d like to see (some which I wanna watch again!), my list has no end! But I will not give up, since so-called American series producers could learn a lot about how to make a DRAMA from Japanese. And I will be grateful to Gokusen makers forever, ´cause thanks to it I found out about KAT-TUN. :) – and AKame of course XD; and I must say, that my opinion changed the most in this point since the time I wrote it...

6.    Actors – Oguri Shun, Takaoka Sousuke

Tough time for me to choose an example. :/ I mentioned two men in the end, as I wasn´t able to decide, who I like more. Some people say that Japanese actors are overplaying. I don´t think so. And if they do, I don´t mind that since the story and characters usually get directly to my heart and I watch their stories almost breathless till the very end. – Omg, I really wrote this?? Well, hell yes, that Japanese actors overplay their roles! XD But I still like it, though...

7.     Katanas

You might say, that´s my most favorite weapon. I´m always excited about the way, how samurai fight with this sword. And it´s not only about fighting at all. It´s its history, traditions, the way they care about it, meaning, looks. Beautiful but lethal in skillful hands.
There are exceptions in American movies, which I really like. And here´s one example – Kill Bill. Katana in the main role together with the Bride. :D

8.    History, culture

Japanese people and culture are very different from Europe or America. No wonder when they were closed up before the rest of the world for such a long time. Japan history is thrilling, exciting, interesting, covered in blood wars and unfortunately, also full of disasters. Every time I got a chance, I´m curious to find out anything new I haven´t known till then. I like all these things like saké, green tea, Buddhist monasteries, bowing habits, beautiful nature, cities full of life... Almost all of these things I know from videos and photos, but I hope it will change soon... – Heh, it did changed and it wasn´t for better in all cases...

9.    Character, language

Japanese are people with strong will and courage to fight. I admire them for how they were able to cope with all these natural (and also not so natural) disasters, which had a great impact on their country. When they do something, they do it with full heart, repeating it as long as necessary to make it perfect. They are strange in many ways, I heard that they have two faces, which they show to the world and sometimes I even think, they are crazy, but to be honest – who of us is not, even a little?
And Japanese language… I think that it is one of most beautiful languages in the world. I´d love to learn it someday. I remember some words and phrases from anime and doramas, but I do not study it, and I feel sorry for that. Here comes the lame excuse again - lack of time. :/
-    ok, from some part my opinion about this point is the same, but on the other hand I got to know Japanese nature much better than I´d really like to :/

10.     The fact, that they are making beer according to Czech procedure

I was so proud, when I found out that. :D

Well, I think that´s it.
10 things I love about Country of Rising Sun. There are things I do not like so much, but I cannot remember any right now. :D Well, to be honest… I was not happy to hear about all the things Japanese soldiers did during Korean war. Horrible, disgusting things. But we all can learn from our own mistakes, don´t we?
And on the other hand, I am angry even in these days because of nuclear attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I would destroy all nuclear weapons on our planet, if I could. This will be our self-destruction once…
And I pity Japan for suffering from all these earthquakes and tsunami waves.
Fascinating yet dangerous place to live in. That´s Nihon, as I see it.

Dokusho shite itadaki arigatou. (Thank you for reading).

Well, let me tell you that it was surprisingly interesting to read this now. Basically, the “things I like” remained the same, but quite a few “things I dislike” appeared in past year or more. :/ After my experiences in this country and after so much time spent looking for more information etc. my opinions changed. But I guess that´s nothing surprising, in the end...
